What's New for B2C Marketing in 2022

By Lindsay Valenty -

New year, new marketing plans, new budgets to manage. The digital marketing space has changed — what do you plan to implement in your strategy this year?

Before we dive in too deep, what are your marketing goals for 2022? Here are the three key goals brands hope to achieve with their campaigns:

• Brand Awareness (49%)

• Advertise Products (44%)

• Increase Revenue (43%)

51% of B2C marketers plan to increase their marketing budget in 2022 — and here's some of what they plan to include in their marketing strategies.

Short-Form Video

You'd have to be living under a rock if you're unaware of TikTok, Facebook Stories, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts. These snack-sized video platforms are only going to continue to grow in the coming years as consumers continue to engage with content that is quick and easy to consume.

According to HubSpot, 33% of B2C marketers currently utilize short-form content, and 1/3 of them plan to add it to their 2022 strategy.

When thinking of video, don't just pigeonhole it to the platform alone — integrate video with your email campaigns to boost performance.

Authentic and Automated

The idea of introducing AI into digital marketing has been a hot topic since 2018. That doesn't mean the trend is slowing down — quite the opposite.

AI is a popular tool for customer service, and now more than ever, a consistent and comprehensive customer service strategy is so important. AI continues to learn based on previous data to improve the customer service process for everyone, guaranteeing a more personalized approach for your consumer.

User-Generated Content

Let's be honest - creating great content is a huge time suck. We know it, you know it - that's just how it is.

Being able to share and utilize content created by the people who have used your products and services is brilliant for many reasons:

• It shows that you're actively keeping an eye on what people are saying about you.

• It shows that you care about what your customers think.

• It recognizes your customers in a cool and meaningful way.

• It's free content!

Sharing user-generated content is only going to continue to grow in popularity. Just ensure that you obtain permission from the creator before incorporating it into any large-scale marketing campaign.

Mobile, Mobile, Mobile

70% of consumers prefer to deal with businesses remotely, and chances are they're going to do so on their mobile devices.

If you look at the numbers, the amount of traditional desktop computer interactions you will see on your website or social channels will be much lower than people viewing your content on mobile. With that in mind, you should always make sure that whatever you produce is mobile-friendly FIRST.

Inbound Marketing

Inbound Marketing should ALWAYS be part of your strategy. The goal should be to drive people to your website and keep them there as much as possible.

That's not all, though. The three tenets of inbound marketing are to Attract, Delight, and Engage your customers. It's essential to utilize analytics to see which platforms perform the best and what content generates the most engagement. Knowing what and where your customers gravitate towards will allow you to adjust your marketing strategy as needed to meet them where they are.
