How to Market Your Property Management Company in 2022

By Lindsay Valenty -

The days of marketing in the yellow pages may be over, but that doesn't mean there still aren't ways to get your name out there.

The digital age has made it infinitely easier to get found online - if you know what you're doing. The following are tips to market your property development company and get found by the right people.

Get Your Keywords In Order

You can't get in front of your customers if you don't know what they're searching for. That's why Keyword Marketing is so essential.

You can use great tools to discover the keywords that will get you noticed: Google Keyword Planner is an obvious choice, and Answer the Public is another.

Knowing what keywords and long-form search phrases people are using will give you an idea of what you should include in your content.

Know The Competition

It's essential to keep abreast of what others in your market do to get their name out there. Where do they fall in search results? What does their marketing look like? What social channels are they on?

Doing an audit on your competitors will give you an idea of what areas/channels you should target.

Say they're on YouTube, but they haven't posted anything in 6 months. Finding a channel that works and is consistent with your posting schedule will be vital in growing your audience in that market.

What To Publish

So you have your keywords, you know what your competitors are doing and what channels you want to be on. Now what?

You want to be a knowledge resource for your customers—give them a reason to turn to you.

Some things to keep in mind:

• Take a common problem and offer a solution

• Don't make it about you: focus on what your audience needs/wants

• Show that you are a thought leader in this arena

• Provide value, whether that's insight or special offers

Marketing Strategy

There isn't a standard formula for getting your content out there. It depends on your needs/wants and how much time and effort you want to put into it.

Some easy strategies would be to share your content on social media - that's a given. Other options would be writing articles on LinkedIn, writing guest blogs for sites/businesses that work with you, perhaps even podcasting or live videos.

Planning a live chat is a way to promote your business, and you can stream on platforms such as Twitter Spaces, Facebook, YouTube, Discord, Twitch, TikTok, and Instagram.

SEO Is Your Friend

Remember how you searched for keywords to understand what content to create? You'll want to incorporate those into your website strategy.

SEO, or Search Engine Optimization, is necessary to show up on search engines. You'll want to ensure that you:

• incorporate the keywords that are relevant to your business in your web copy

• optimize your pages for those keywords and phrases without just keyword stuffing

• backlink to your site content whenever possible (such as on social)

One thing that many people forget about is the metadata for your page. This includes the title and description of your page as it will appear on search engines. You want to make your information as easy and self-explanatory as possible.

Here's an example of a Meta Title and Meta Description:

Focus On The Customer Experience

Having the best content in the world doesn't mean anything if your customers have a hard time accessing it. That's why metrics and regular audits are so important.

You can use several tools to check your site to see what pages people are hitting, if there are broken links, if it's slow to load, which are all factors that could affect your customer's experience.

With so many people accessing the internet on their mobile devices, your site must be mobile-friendly and easy to navigate.

Make Sure You're Listed

You need a Google My Business listing if you want to rank higher in search, especially on Google.

Things you want to include on your listing are:

• Business Name

• Address

• Phone Number

• Website

• Social channels

Having a Google My Business account also gives your customers an easy place to leave reviews, which is excellent. Why? According to BrightLocal.com, 84% of people trust online reviews as much as personal recommendations.

Choose Your Social Channels

Generating leads is a big part of your marketing strategy, and reaching new customers is easiest with social media.

That doesn't mean you need to be on every platform. It's essential to decide which makes the most sense for your business. So many companies try to be everywhere, and unless they have a large team managing it all, it's hard to stay on top of everything and consistently publish content.

Social platforms with some of the most active users include Facebook, YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and Snapchat. Notice how all of them utilize video? Something to keep in mind.

With so many new developments going up each month, the competition for renters and buyers is tough. Building, listing and showing just isn’t enough. Whether you’re a real estate developer putting up student housing, luxury apartments or boutique studios, your new development needs a strong brand identity to stand out from the crowd—and we'll give you an edge over the competition.
